A Change in the Air

latest farmer's market finds from my instagram (@courtlynnewest)
Autumn is creeping around the corner. Can you feel it? As soon as our temperatures dropped out of the 100s, it was as if my body automatically shifted into fall mode. I so want to bundle up in scarves and sweaters, but I must hold off because it's still in the 90s outside. Oh well. I will gladly wait.

Unfortunately, I don't have a new recipe for you today because my weekend was spent prepping and throwing a baby shower for my oldest sister and soon to be nephew.  I was going to share a multi-grain boule I made at the beginning of this week, but the taste wasn't quite right and I didn't feel confident about it.  So, what I'm trying to say is check back this weekend for something yummy.  I promise you won't be disappointed and it will totally be worth the wait.

Since Labor Day weekend is fastly approaching, here are some suggestions for your lovely festivities and picnics:

-If you're markets are overflowing with eggplant, how about some baba ghanoush and kamut flatbreads as an appetizer?  You can make the flatbreads on the grill if you are already planning on grilling.

-For a yummy breakfast this lazy weekend, make these cornmeal pancakes with a tasty stone fruit compote.

-If time is of the essence, make this easy salted chocolate mousse for dessert and serve it in individual ramekins or bowls.

-If plan on going the burger route this holiday weekend, how about some quick lemon cucumber pickles to garnish your patty of choice?

-If you are looking for something you can throw on the grill, seek out some late summer peaches and make these grilled summer peaches with cashew cream.

-To recover from a weekend of decadent eating, try the beets & greens juice

Wishing everyone a lovely holiday weekend, and promising to be back later this weekend with a new recipe post!!
